Apple officially announced the New iPad (Not 3!) today in San Francisco, CA. The New iPad will feature a razor-sharp 2048 x 1536 Retina display, effectively doubling the number of pixels when compared to both the original iPad and the iPad 2. New TV ad from Apple:

According to AppleInsider, Apple is rumored to be working on a dedicated store for newspapers and magazines.

The new app is in the early planning stages, and negotiations with major content providors are ongoing.

Timing for launch of the new app could be in a few months or together with the presentation of the next-generation iPads in early 2011.
